Personal identity is an integral phenomenon that defines who a person is in his/her social environment. Naturally, most people define or associate themselves with a particular racial or social culture that marks their personal identity in comparison to their peers in the same social environment. In this case, language, which is a key element of a race or social demographic, is utilized by people to explain their identity to others. In this case, writing becomes the primary method through which such people provide a mark distinguishing them as belonging to a particular demographic and not the other. In such a context, words are not only used to enhance the understanding of a text by a population but also to enlighten the targeted audience of the text about the racial identity of the author. In a different example, an individual can use terms such as claustrophobia, gothic counterfeit, doppelganger, and devil among others in a text to identify himself/herself with the gothic style of life.
Claim 2: Expression of Emotion/Feeling
Writing can also be employed as a tool for expressing emotions or feelings of an individual to other persons in society. Additionally, that is because an author can use highly descriptive texts to express his/her position on a particular phenomenon to the reader of his/her publication. In this case, the term 'descriptive' is employed to refer to both written/typed text and graphically authored information. In such contexts, the use of written language to express an individual's emotion is possible because it is achievable to use a range of stylistic devices and other forms of literary devices in the composition of a text. Subsequently, this enables an individual to expound the meaning of a phrase or an excerpt with ease.
Nevertheless, it is imperative for an individual to know or identify the right stylistic devices to use in different situations. Additionally, that is because different stylistic devices may evoke different meanings or emotions if utilized in the same piece of written text. Lastly, in today's digital world, mobile communication devices have also made it possible for creators of written text to use graphics, such as "emojis" and other special characters to accompany written information. Although such, graphical materials have not yet been fully recognized as acceptable academic literature characters, they are largely used to express people's emotions in today's contemporary society. In this context, it would thus be arguable to state that writing is an effective tool that can be utilized by people to express their emotions to others within similar or diverse social environments.
Claim 3: Record of Account
Among the primary strengths of written communication, is that it can be employed as a record of account. Particularly, that is because an individual can write his/her ideas or information on a paper or a digital platform, where it can be stored and accessed by others at a later day. Subsequently, this means that immense volumes of written or digital data can be stored for a long period to the extent of being accessed and read by other generations in future centuries. For instance, today, learners can digitally access stored information from books and other types of publications that were authored in the eightieth century. In a different context, religious publications such as the Koran or the Holy Bible can be marked as authored publications that have been in existence for centuries.
Traditionally, written materials have been largely preserved in textbook materials. Nevertheless, with the invention of information, communication, and technology (ICT) devices in the late ninetieth century, volumes of written texts and published materials were backed up in a computer device. Subsequently, this has made it possible for countless publications to be accessed on the digital and online platforms by people from all over the world. The recorded and stored materials have also become more accessible today than they were in the past. Subsequently, this has made the learning process in academic institutions seamless since learners can attain sufficient information to inform their academic learning. As such, it would be conclusive to define writing as a record of account.
Claim 4: Organizing of Ideas
Writing can also be utilized as a method of organizing ideas during the writing process. Additionally, that is because during writing authors can systematically contemplate their ideas and then write them in chronological order. Specifically, this means in a manner that enables such written texts to make sense to its targeted audience. The proper organization of ideas in a text is essential in quality writing for a number of reasons. First, it enables an author to list and explain his/her thoughts in an orderly manner and without repetition. Subsequently, this enables the targeted audience of a text to be in a position to sufficiently comprehend the meaning of the authored information in a book or on a digital platform.

Lastly, writing can be defined to be a record of account where voluminous of written data, typed and written, can be stored and accessed by others today or in the future. Nevertheless, the definition of writing in reference to the four situations may vary between different individuals depending on their use of the authored or printed texts.
