The brain in human located on the upper part of the head. It provides direction and controls everything happening in the body. It is fantastic to learn that such a small gray organ is composed of several connectors that dictate your personality (Dieterich, 2018).
In understanding your brain, you may have asked: "how do I blink without noticing, or how do I remember things." The brain is your boss, and everything you do therefore is the work of the mind. It controls entirely everything you go through; remembering, dreaming, blinking, and so many other things (Dieterich, 2018).
The small gray organ in your head (Brain) has several parts working in harmony to bring coordination. However, five of these parts are crucial in the coordination; cerebrum, cerebellum, pituitary, the brain stem, and hypothalamus. The nerve system also forms part of the brain linking these different parts of the brain together (Dieterich, 2018).
The cerebrum is the most significant part of the brain. It is the part that takes place in thinking and control of your muscles (voluntary). Voluntary muscles are those that you get to control when you want. Therefore, the cerebrum functions in all daily activities you participate in, such as soccer ball, dancing, skating, and other physical activities you perform. (Naatanen, 2018)
Your cerebrum is essential in classwork, such as solving mathematical cases, picture, drawing and analyzing a video game. All the memories you remember either long-term (months and years ago) or short-term (who prepared breakfast today?), is in the cerebrum. This part of the brain also helps you to reason on things you need to do and not to do. For instance, if your dad is to take you to a movie, you'll have to complete your assignment earlier before to make sure that you do not miss to do the homework and therefore avoid teachers' disciplinary action. (Naatanen, 2018)
Your brain is divided further into two parts that are on either side of the head. It is scientifically known that the two sections perform different functions. The left section is useful in controlling the right side of your body and helps you in solving mathematical issues, relevant matters, and speaking. The right part controls the left body section and is responsible for things you see, including differentiating colors, shapes, and music (Naatanen, 2018)
The cerebellum is located below and back of your cerebrum. This part is considerably smaller as compared with the cerebrum. However, it plays a very significant role in your brain as it is responsible for all movements you do, coordinate and balance the whole of your body. Because of this part, you can keep balance, move around, and stand upright (Naatanen, 2018).
The stem of the brain also is a small but significant part. The stem lies beneath and front of cerebellum. This part of the brain is the one connecting the whole mind with other body parts through a spinal cord. It is the section responsible for keeping you alive by taking control of breathing, digestion of food, and blood circulation. (Naatanen, 2018)
This brain part is involved in the control of involuntary muscles such as blinking, sneezing, blood pumping, and digestion. It controls your heart and digest muscles hence make sure that you continue to live. It is a small part but able to sort out all the messages you receive throughout your body and sent the feedback back to the body (Naatanen., 2018)
The pituitary is probably the smallest part of your brain but with great a function. The pituitary is about the size of a pea; however, it produces adequate hormone that enables your body to perform all the necessary functions. Because of this gland, you can grow by releasing particular growth hormones. The hormones released by this organ play a significant role in humans' puberty stage from childhood to adulthood (Pally, 2018).
Hypothalamus is the brain thermostat and controls the body heat, maintaining it at 37.50 Celsius. If the environment is too hot, the hypothalamus commands the body to sweat to reduce the body temperature, and if the climate is cold, it directs your body organs to shiver in an attempt to generate heat and maintain it at an optimum level (Pally, 2018).
For your brain to perform all these functions, it needs to have an interconnection with the body parts and other brain parts. Therefore, between all the parts of the brain and where they control, there is a nerve linkage. The majority of these nerves are located in the spinal column for their protection by the vertebrae. These systems of nerves linking your body parts and brain contain millions and thousands of neurons (NUR-onz) that is no visible with naked eyes (Pally, 2018).
Messages travel several times from neuron to neuron to be able to create a pathway in your brain for the activity you are doing. Whether learning or doing any other business, the neuron creates a path in the mind so that the next time you will act, and it will be much easier. If you repeat doing the operation several times, an active pathway creation, and you will no longer require engaging your brain is doing it (Pally, 2018).
For instance, you do not engage your brain much when you ride your bicycle because your mind has already created the pathway. The pathway created codes for every simple activity you perform. Therefore, the brain is the overall master of our bodies as it controls every aspect of our life (Pally, 2018).
