Introduction
Our country was under a dictatorial rule, where the rights of the people were suppressed. In our nation, the leader dictated the procedures and policies, decided the goals to be accomplished, and had direct control over every activity. The subordinates did not have any meaningful participation. However, the people were tired of all these oppressive acts by the dictatorial leader, and thus, they organized a coup to overthrow the dictator. As the newly elected president, my goal is to form a very democratic government where the participation of citizens and opinions of subordinates are highly valued. Unfortunately, the divisions in the country and the war years, there are no political, military, and economic structures. A group of loyalists from the old dictator have staged protests, detonating bombs, killing citizens, assassinating leaders, and terrorizing towns through the health of the neighboring country's dictator. The goal of this project is to create a detailed plan for my new government.
This paper is divided into six key areas. The first chapter focuses on the governing styles of the government and the principles of governing leaders. The second chapter focuses on the duties of different branches of the government, while chapter three identifies the ways of maintaining public good. The fourth chapter defines the most beneficial economic structure for the citizens. The fifth chapter focuses on ways of ensuring national unity, and the sixth chapter identifies ways of combating violence and terrorism.
Domestic Concerns
Some of the domestic concerns facing the newly founded government are terrorist attacks and killing civilians. The terrorist groups have established a long chain of command and have a major foothold in the region. Top government officials are bankrolling these terrorist groups to frustrate the efforts of our government. The lack of military function also hinders the ability to combat these vile acts of terrorism that have caused massive unrest and the killing of civilians in the country. The declining economic growth is also another domestic concern that hurts the ability of the country to sustain its citizens and even generate revenue to provide services to its citizens.
Governing Style
As the new president, the governing style is transformative leadership. Amid the turmoil and confusion in the country, transformational leadership motivates, inspires, and encourages citizens to create change that help shape the future of the country (Ghasabeh, Soosay, & Reaiche, 2015). This style of leadership is achieved by setting examples at the top level using a strong government structure founded on the principles of good governance. The principles that go with the style of leadership include democracy, ethical conduct, transparency, accountability, and the rule of law.
Government Branches and their Functions
My government has three parts, namely the executive, legislature, and the judiciary. As a president, my duty includes administering the executive arm of the government and enforcing laws made in the parliament (Dafflon, 2015). The legislative arm of the government makes the laws governing the country. The judiciary interprets the laws made in the legislature according to the constitution. In each state, my government will establish lower courts to ensure transparency in handling offenses.
Public Domestic Programs
Part of my leadership approach is developing domestic programs that work in the best interests of the citizens. The first domestic program is on economic policy, which focuses on creating more employment opportunities for the jobless youth. Through this domestic program, the government hopes to achieve the goal of improved economic growth. The second good domestic program concerns heightened security. The military branch will be re-introduced to ensure that citizens have the required security and protection. The rebels do not show any promise of relenting on their massive murders of civilians. The introduction of the military is the best approach to promote their interests in a safe and healthy society.
Economic Structure
The country is expected to adopt the command economic system where power is centralized. The government is the key economic feature, and it is at the center of all activities, from the planning to the redistribution of resources. The command economy establishes healthy resources supply and rewards the citizens at affordable prices (Harrison, & Zaksauskiene, 2016). The reason for using the command economic system is that when it is appropriately executed, the government mobilizes resources on massive scales. Mobility could offer employment opportunities for all citizens. At the same time, the government is left to focus on the good of society instead of people. This focus ensures the effective use of resources.
Means of Creating National Unity
Socializing citizens is useful in fostering national unity. Political socialization refers to the process through which people learn and internalize political lens framing their viewpoints of the arrangement of power. These perceptions impact the definitions of people about who they are and the ways they must behave in the economic and political situations they face. The outcome is that values that promote the involvement of citizens are passed through the socialization of citizens. There will also be greater involvement of citizens in policymaking procedures and matters that affect their safety and livelihood.
Foreign Concerns
The country is facing a hard time dealing with rebels, and this translates to its relationship with other countries. Some of the foreign concerns include harmful trade policies that prevent foreign direct investments by our businesses in these neighboring countries. Another foreign concern is peaceful co-existence with neighboring countries. Acts of terrorism are supported and bankrolled by neighboring countries, and this makes fighting terrorists difficult altogether. With these countries supporting the terrorists, it is more challenging to have peaceful relations. The outcome is increased conflict and heightened tensions, which are not good for the growth of the economy.
Proposed International Organizations
To ensure an improved economy and better security levels within the country, it is paramount that my government collaborates with international organizations. For security, the country will join up with the United Nations (UN). The rationale behind choosing the UN is because the Security Council ensures international security and peace and easily accepts the new members. In matters economic, the country will join the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) (Moss, & Urban, 2017). The rationale for OECD is because it is a forum of nations that are focused on democracy and market economy, giving countries the platform for finding answers to common issues and identifying the best practices.
Combating Foreign and Local Terrorism Threat
To combat both local and foreign terrorism, the government will dedicate more funds to recruiting the military and providing them with the necessary equipment to handle terrorist attacks. The country's efforts in preventing terrorism are focused on a risk-based approach to security. These are implemented within the cargo and passenger transportation methods at the ports of entry and borders. The approach includes new technologies that identify explosives and other weapons, and create partnerships for sharing information (Karlsrud, 2017). The approach also focuses on the protection of important infrastructure and cyber networks from imminent attacks.
Conclusion
An ideal government is founded on the principals of democracy and citizen participation. The right government includes the three arms of the judiciary, legislature, and the executive. These branches of the government must work harmoniously to realize a democratic state, where the rights of citizens are not oppressed.
