Recreational tourism is the most common since the recreational tourist move across the world to relax, have some good time, and enjoy the activities and sceneries in places they visit (Henthorne, George & Williams, 2010). The historical tourists visit different areas to learn more about various events that occurred in the past. Historical tourists view the artifacts and monuments, visits the essential buildings, and listen to different stories from the local experts. Also, eco-tourists tend to visit the natural areas which are fragile and undisturbed to learn about them in a socially responsible way. Eco-tourists have the responsibility of minimizing their effect on the environment which they visit. Global connections have altered the world at national, local, and international levels (Hingtgen, Kline, Fernandes & McGehee, 2015). Therefore, due to the continuous change facilitated by global connections in tourism, this paper will focus on Cuba's tourism industry as a source of connections between the Latin America and Caribbean regions(LAC) and specific places around the world.

Cuba's tourism industry is set to expand due to the plans developed by the government to construct more resorts and hotels. Due to the development of Cuba's tourism sector, many tourists are opting to visit Cuba to see fantastic sceneries and events. Cuba's government has concentrated on the tourism industry since it generates more returns, which are used to develop other sectors of the economy (Taylor Jr, & McGlynn, 2009). The government has continued to set policies that promote international tourism. Therefore, the Cuban government has sought to correct past tourism policies, thus improving the expanding tourist capacity.

The Cuban government invested in the tourism sector by increasing the number of rooms where tourists resided when they visited the country. Therefore, the shift made by the government from different products to tourism services made tourism a driving factor in Cuba.

Due to the international hotel chains, other nations have become interested to invest in the Cuban tourist industry. Therefore, the developments in the tourism industry have made Cuba to become an Island of interest from many nations globally.

Tourism industry in Cuba experiences different challenges due to the increase in the competitive capacity. This has made Cuba to take advantage of the essential resources and opportunities. The problems which are associated with the subjective and objective factors are dealt with through a coherent approach which uses human capital. Despite the challenges faced by tourism industry in Cuba, tourism remains driving factor of the Cuban economy (Simoni, 2016). Therefore, tourism in Cuba, is a significant development which has created an aspect of sustainable tourism from its economic, ecological and social dimensions.
