Introduction
In my dental floss marketing project, I plan to use PLN (Personal Learning Network) to enable me to remain up-to-date on the subject of flossing. Since digital technology has increased opportunities for people to sharpen their skills, for both educators and professional communicators, establishing a Personal Learning Network is a crucial step towards enhancing professional abilities.
I will use both social media platforms and digital education tools in my branding (Catapano, 2016, n.p.). I will use Twitter because it allows users to choose who to follow based on their interests selectively. Apparently, on my Twitters handle, I will follow professionals studying or practicing dental medicine. Secondly, I will use LinkedIn because it has the widest scope of professional communities; hence, it allows access to insights, news, opportunities, and people (Watanabe-Crockett, 2017, n.p.). Thirdly, I will use EdWeb.net, a website that offers training in managing digital learning and enables faculty staffs, and libraries to contribute to online learning discourses.
Moreover, I will ensure that the groups and individuals taking part in the network are professionals who can offer sensible ideas on the subject. Therefore, I will go for practicing Dentists and Community Oral Health Workers to offer expert opinions based on their experiences. The information from these two groups will also be crucial in determining the needs of the community. Similarly, I will include medical students and university faculty sources of current research information (Wilson, 2008, p.17).
The PLN will have many benefits for me and my online presence. Primarily, it will enhance life-long learning because it will give me unlimited access to facts and opinions from diverse sources (White & Davis, 2011, p. 23). Secondly, it will increase my authority in the subject through constant engagement (Bauer, 2010, p.38). Also, it will offer a new platform to market the product.
Conclusion
In conclusion, establishing a personal learning network is a great way to improve personal knowledge and authority on a given subject. As a seller of a new product entering the market for the first time, I would continually need to deeply understand what the buyers need are and the best way to offer it. Therefore, both expert and amateur opinions on the subject would provide the required insight to be at the top of the competition. As such, the PLN will enable me to take advantage of the interactivity of social media and other specialized digital platforms to obtain the information for free.
