John Luther Martin became the most notable symphonist in history due to his creative compositions that have had him stand out among the rest. Become Desert is a renown symphony that was created by John Luther Martin. Reading through the interview, there is an intense resound of the beauty of the desert, and all that can be experienced in the desert. John Luther Martin expressed his desire to atone the mystery and magnificent nature of the desert through music. The seasonal changes that are experienced in the desert with the various shapes and forms that nature, especially the state of a desert, portrays are all one can gather and imagine throughout the interview.
Going through the interview, it is clear to notice John's express love and affection for music and composition of a tone that will best resemble the nature and the experiences he had in the desert. There is a feeling of utmost desire and want for accomplishment on John Luther Martin; he speaks of music as a natural satisfaction element that only can make him feel the utter magnificent beauty of the desert (Cless, 2015). The changes in weather and seasons, according to John Luther Martin, are the perfect picture that he desired and captured in his symphony. The tides, storms, sound of the sky, and the wind are some of the elements of nature that he articulated throughout the interview. He had a great love for nature, and so was his desire to incorporate such waves of nature in his symphonies.
By listening to music, it is easy to note and feel the experience that John was trying to put across. Several words came to mind in the process of understanding and having a clear feeling of the music to nature and the environment in general. The various five words that will be discussed to form the basis of the essay include the following; Captivating, beautiful, mysterious, nostalgia, and calmness (Higgins, 2017).
Captivating - as you listen to the music, the sounds certain start rising and hit certain lengths that always seem to be repeating itself, it is like the nature of the desert right after winter rain. A certain feeling slowly hits you that the music you would not be interesting then starts to pull you somewhere, it's an awesome feeling as the music goes upward with an inevitable force, much like of the light or wind. It is a captivating chill that is amazing to experience.
Beautiful -While listening to the music, you start to feel the air around you getting lighter and very transparent, it is the tone of the flutes clearing, and this is a wonderful feeling that resembles beauty and perfection. At this moment, it is easy to feel the space closing around, and it a feeling that recedes, and you cannot be sure whether to let it or not. By far, you find yourself wanting to listen more deeply because the tone is very beautiful.
Mysterious - The sound and ton of the flutes create an intense feeling that develops uncertainties and strangeness. You find yourself in a landscape of mystery, a place where you cannot predict or read the weather or the light. You find yourself uncertain of how long the music will take you, or how challenging the process will present itself. Such mystery of the symphony demonstrates itself as carefully listen to the waves of the tones and sink into the bubble of its strangeness and mystery.
Nostalgic - at a certain point, the music continues to rise and get brighter, a feeling of nostalgia then brews in with a feeling of the past, but in this case, it is the nostalgia of the present, nostalgia for the exact moment with your presence in it. It is an incomprehensible feeling at this moment. You just have to flow with the tone and let the music sail down your spine.
The subject matter of the song in nature. It is an amazing experience to note the various changes and seasons that can be incorporated in music to create a powerful and thrilling wave of tones that people can be in love with. The presentation of every stage of a season, such as the desert winds, the storms, and the calmness of the ocean is nothing but just amazing. John Luther Martin creatively presented this ideology in his musical symphony, and the outcomes were all worthy of note.
I liked the work because it is a creation that covers our very existence in the world and the experiences we have with nature. The musical symphony evokes a feeling of the desert because the desert is always known to be unfriendly, but John Luther Martin created the un-anticipated wonder of a symphony that brought up a different notion and understanding of the desert. The symphony evokes great emotions that I believe can fall in love with (Keator, M., Agamben, Alter., Arendt, Canovan, Armstrong, & Badley, 2018).
My general experience is that musical greatness is not only created from rhymes and lines but also in tapping into the intuitions of people by Integrating their daily experience with forces of nature such as the desert with a musical tone that is relatable. John Luther Martin creatively wrote the tone, which has since been a wave for symphony music creators.
