Human Flow documentary is an excellent movie. The documentary has the emotional and shocking experiences resulting in its inspiration. Various parts of the documentary are painful to watch because of the emotions expressed; for instance, the shooting footage on the iPhone and refugees harrowing journey. After watching this documentary, I understood that the human flow is a personal journey. I tried to understand the conditions of the human journey from the documentary based on the value of human rights and the need for tolerance and compassion as well as trust. In my opinion, the movie is based on personal feelings related to past experiences of inhumane treatment. According to the United Nations, about 10 million refugees have been denied access to education, employment, healthcare, and freedom of movement (United Nations, 2019). Experiences are vital for understanding how the refugees are influenced by the external forces (Luu, 2018). Therefore, human flow is based on the analogy of stopping the flood from solving the issues. The relationship between concrete walls and borders and the dams' show how there are efforts employed to solve the refugee problem.
I watched the Human flow documentary before joining this class. The film addresses the current global refugee crisis, with over twenty countries involved in the personal impact of massive human immigration. According to the United Nations Statistics, about 65.6 million people are refugees worldwide, and fifty-seven percent of this number originate from Syria, South Sudan, and Afghanistan (United Nations, 2019). The primary cause of an increased number of refugees is conflict or persecution (United Nations, 2019). The documentary co-produced by Ai was shared on YouTube with the crisis of refuge highlighted (Ai Weiwei, 2017). The documentary revealed the times of crisis for refugees while classifying the causation categories based on ethnic and flights from repression. From the insights gained from the movie, I have decided to be a refugee ambassador through teaching people about the ways of handling refugees, especially the underage. I will dedicate my resources and time to inform people about refugees, and the measures countries can use to safeguard refugees' livelihood successfully. The controls implemented to eradicate immigrants, such as the construction of walls are inhumane and infringes refugee rights. I will advocate for compassion and protection of young refugees who are innocent and do not deserve strict regulations.
