Introduction
God did not create anything without a purpose. He has a purpose for all his creatures, the purpose of our hearts beating and our lives. In Ephesians 1:11, "it is in Christ that we found out who we are living for...part of the overall purpose God is working out in everything and everyone." God had us in mind before He laid the foundation of the earth and decided to have us as His focus for love. Moreover, in Colossians 1:16, it states that "Everything, absolutely everything got started in Christ and found its purpose in Him." God makes us and for God, and among the five purposes of life is that God planned me for His pleasure. In Revelation 4:11B states that "You, God, created everything, and it is for your pleasure that they exist and were created!" Therefore, I was made so that God can love me in God's pleasure. Consequently, in Psalms 149:4, the scripture highlights that the Lord takes pleasure in His people.
Do you sense the smile of God in your life today? Explain.
God has a purpose for our lives. God gives pleasure in watching us being us. Through the wonders of the world, God smiles when a child's action turns our attention away from our troubles, envisaging our hearts to the wonders of the world. God often smiles at us when we worship Him. That moment when we drop everything and take our time and give a heartfelt thank you, and God gives us a warm embrace.
What are the ways that you can start to look at the activities of your life as potential acts of worship?
Worshipping is expressing the love of God in various ways. The greatest commandment says that we should love the Lord our God with all our hearts, soul, strength, and mind. The methods used to worship God include music, giving, listening, obedience, and building something for the glory of God. Worshipping God is loving our neighbors as we love ourselves. We should obey God because we love him; we are devoted to him, and because we are not afraid of him or just need something from him. In Luke 7:36-50, worship is displayed in the most unlikely manner. An outcast woman who had experienced abuse brought her most valuable possession to Jesus as a way of expressing love and worship. In a single moment, she expressed her love to God without fear, prejudgment, and embarrassment; thereby, creating amongst the most special moments of worshipping God in the Bible.
What common task could you start doing as if you were doing it directly for Jesus?
Some things come up, such as being part of Christ's family by going to church every Sunday. God expects us to show up when we are called upon to do so, give a hand to a friend who is down, and providing a shoulder to cry on as well as giving an ear to a friend when required. Eventually, the primary goal is living in God's image. We should care about our fellow beings and honor others with peace and goodwill, otherwise, our quests are meaningless.
