Introduction
God's calling to the Christian lifestyle constitutes the aspect of vocation and thus is the definition of my life in God and Christian living. A calling manifests in various engagements such as being a priest, sister or brotherhood, single or married life, a teacher, or a doctor, etc. Consequently, the book of Jeremiah states, "before I formed you in the womb, and before you were born, I consecrated you." This quote shows the intention of God that he created us for a particular vocation. As a young person, my teachers frequently asked what I needed to be when I grow up, and consequently, I answered my dream job. However, teachers ought to ask what I thought God was calling me to be when I grow up. God helps us to discover our vocations in many ways. Prayer is a defining item that enabled me to comprehend my vocation.
Moreover, God may guide us through as we grow up pleasingly, and sometimes we go through struggles and challenges, which requires us to be strong in faith in God. But through prayer, we can ask God to reveal to us what He needs us to be. For that reason, I discovered that my calling is being a teacher, have a family through marriage, actively participate in outreach ministry, and service to the community. Thus, this essay will expound on the implications of these vocational ideas.
God's Call through Creation
The Trinity is one of the Christian doctrines that baffles the believers. It is the basis of the Christian faith and enables us to understands the mysteries of God, such as what God is like, how he relates with his people, and also how we can connect with him. The fundamental question about God can be one in three. This constitutes the Trinity of God. Consequently, God eternally exists and is composed of three persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Placed differently, the three persons are distinct Persons, each Person is entirely God, and there is only one God. In Philippians 1:2, Titus 2:13, and Acts 5:3-4, the bible speaks of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as God, respectively.
The working of the Trinity in my Christian life is seen clearly in the bible chapter John 13 to 17, where the story of Jesus' disciples is told where they were deeply troubled about Jesus' intention to leave. Disciples feared a broken relationship with God. However, Jesus spoke of the guidelines to help them stay in the path of Christianity, worshiping, and abiding by the ways worthy of Gods' people. Consequently, Jesus spoke of Trinitarian nature and, therefore, should be the basis of relationship with God.
The lessons that I drew from the nature of the Father is divine love. Through the scriptures, the Father is the ultimate source of encouragement that comes as a result of prayers, in the grace of the Holy Spirit, and other blessings that come our way. Marriage is a blessing that Gods gave me with grace to find happiness with another person. Joy also happens because of the children that God continues to bless us with. Furthermore, as God is a source of all, He is to be served above all. My vocation to serve in the outreach ministry and service to the community explains the need to serve God as required in the scriptures. God is the One to whom we engage with love, worship, prayers, and admiration. The Son and the Holy Spirit are worshipped since they also give glory to the Father.
Moreover, honoring God through the fruits of our lives. The bible verse in John 25:1-5 explicitly describes how the Christians ought to give back to God through the labors we engage in our lives. The verse tells of a vineyard owner participates in the planting of vines with the view of making harvests. The Father is alluded in the story as the vinedresser who obtains the harvest of what Jesus, who is the vine, brings to our lives who make up the branches. Through teaching, I planned on delivering lessons to the learners, which help them become better members of society. Through the right content, I will enable them to make informed choices that please God and consequently become adults that continue with the work of God. Outreach ministry reaches people in different places, conditions, and situations. My being part of the organization, I will touch lives and bring them closer to God through eye-opening teachings about Trinity. Besides, I will join other believers in the community through the local church in the spirit of Jesus' instructions in His commandments that we love one another the way He has loved us. The book of John 13:34-35, 13:13-17, and 15:12 describes this love of God in the communities.
God's Call through Community
Christian community is a significant platform that assists individuals in growing in their fellowship with God since it encourages people to share a common life through Christ. It enables us to shift from the self-interested isolation brought about by the private lives to the biblical design of committing ourselves to the life of togetherness as the people of God. It is acceptable that maturity is a process and takes time consisting of revelations of vocations trough unique languages. The New Testament encourages us to love one another, forgive each other, and regard others higher than ourselves. Moreover, the Christian teachings encourage us to council others, offer encouragement, pray for each other, and try as possible to carry the burdens of others. Therefore, these ideals formed the basis of the community fellowship and consequently shaped my aspirations to a large extent.
The desire to build the community enabled me to participate enthusiastically in the community. I owe the community for the teachings that made me grow spiritually and as a person. I learned to be compassionate, kind, generous in hospitality, and to serve and submit to one another in reverence for Christ. My vocational aspirations of being a teacher, having a proper family through marriage, and service to the community were the ideals I developed through the community. The community I served provided an ideal stage as a teacher through guidance and counseling of young people, involving myself in dispute resolutions and baptism of new believers to the Christian life.
Moreover, the community's elders encourage activities that enable individuals to discern their talents. In my case, I was categorized as someone with a passion for teaching. Therefore, I engaged mainly in teaching, outreach ministry, and service to the community.
Christ-like Calling
Ephesians 4:1-6 states the words of Paul, who was the prisoner of the Lord, and emphasized that Christians must live a life worthy of the calling, stay humble and gentle, and be patient while bearing with one another in love. The bond of peace is kept through an effort for the unity of the spirit since there are only one body and one spirit of the Lord. The saving of the Lord was not only for Heaven but also for him. By walking in Christ and doing all that is righteous before the eyes of the Lord constitutes the Christ-like calling. As a believer, God, I read, study the word of God daily to understand the general calling. I learned to be a righteous person, and in my profession as a teacher, be a faithful spouse.
God's vocation requires discipleship. Given that Christ said following him will eventually separate children from parents, daughters from their mothers. Consequently, the faith in Christ enabled me to join the outreach ministry, which made me be hard at home. Most of the time, we are off to missions spreading the word of God and claiming lives towards the right path of Christianity. Besides, intimacy with God enables believers to know their specific vocations. With the knowledge of what God needs us to complete, we end up with our calling. The bible tells us that we are God's workmanship, and therefore, we must work for him. Considering such instructions, I developed a passion for becoming a teacher, serving the community, and engaging in outreach mission activities. Psalm 25:14 states that we must be intimate with God to discern his calling. Thus, I make many efforts to ensure I persevere and keep up serving the Lord.
