Furniture is those movable objects that are aimed at supporting different human activities including seating such as sofas, chairs, and stools, sleeping or lying such as beds and eating such as tables. Furniture is also used in holding objects on convenient height for work, for example, horizontal surfaces from the ground including desks and tables or the storage of things such as shelves and cupboards. Furniture can also be a design product that is considered a decorative art form. In today's society, people have developed a bad habit of purchasing items. Especially in big cities like New York, people are throwing away so much Furniture when they move to a new place that is only a few blocks away. This topic explains the reasons why we have to change the unsustainable habit of buying cheap Furniture that goes to waste after using for a short amount of time, and also introducing the sustainable value of keeping good quality furniture.
The reason for buying Furniture may be caused by the need for personal comfort, new items brought in and need some storage or support or when the old Furniture is worn out. After determining why, you need new Furniture now one can find the best way to buy it. One of the critical factors considered when purchasing Furniture is the measure of the space where your Furniture will occupy. To avoid colossal mistakes whereby one realizes that the Furniture bought is too small or too large it is good to have the exact measure of the room so that you can estimate the area that the Furniture is likely to occupy (de Medeiros, Janine Fleith, and Jose Luis Duarte Ribeiro 2018).
It's essential to have the style that you intend to buy whether traditional, modern or unique so that it can be easier to sort out which is the best for you from the many available options. To be specific let's take the example of a sofa. It is essential first to figure out the design or how you want the couch to look like and who will be using it. Determine whether the space available will fit on the couch. The fabric of your choice contributes immensely to beauty and usability. Another factor to be considered is the quality. If probably is wooden Furniture, it is available in three ways namely, plywood, solid and veneer. Solid wood is the real wood; plywood is the compressed sawdust while the surface is the plywood coated with quality wood. Finally color should be in mind where one should select the one which does not require replacement or advancement after a short period.
Having all the factors now one may proceed and buy the Furniture. It may be performed in the geographical or physical market or buy it online. Familiarity with such seller is paramount to a furniture shopper. Those who may want to buy the Furniture in that given store may either have purchased an item earlier, others had just known about the store and others so it in an advertisement. Given that consumers may likely purchase from stores they may have shopped there before or somehow familiar with, the relationships with already existing consumers are critical. To strengthen those relationships, programs should be created by the retailer to keep the buyers or customers informed of new selections and sales for repeat business.
People mostly prefer to buy them in a more natural way which might be using online platforms and stores. This is because one reduces the tasks of visiting the market and start choosing and finally buying and taking it at home. To avoid all these, people go online and view the displays and their dimensions and later orders the one which suits his/her needs. Some stores may offer transport to the customers, and this helps the buyer to cut short the plans that he/she may plan towards transportation of the commodity because it is tough to find the best option in case the Furniture is too large (Associates III et al. 2014). Creating awareness has significant opportunities because the person who had visited the store and the one who has never involved him/herself into such activities, will get the whole information, for example, like in an advert and he/she may want to make purchase agreements with the store owner because the entire report is well displayed in the advertisement. This is the reason why online stores are becoming popular.
Sustainable Furniture is Furniture that has a positive effect on the environment today and in the future. It is designed or manufactured in a way that it can be recycled or be disassembled after a useful life. In the design stage, it involves the use of materials which can be easily reused so that disposal can be minimized (Business Wire January 13, 2006). Expensive and long life pieces are highly recommended. It may also involve the manufacturing of Furniture using no or fewer chemicals because they may be harmful to the environment and people. The main goal of those companies that manufacture sustainable Furniture is to produce items which can be reassembled and modified to be used again as it was used there before.
Such Furniture is eco-friendly and is the best for consumers. To make sure that the Furniture being sold to the consumer is environmental friendly it is important to set guidelines and rules to govern the processes of producing all types of Furniture by the respective authorities or body defining how the process of manufacturing should be undertaken and which chemicals should not be included so that the companies may follow them. Consequences for those companies which will not adhere to the rules should also be added to enhance full obedience to the laws.
Finding Furniture which is sustainable it all involves research. It's evident for companies to claim that their's are environmentally friendly, but it is essential to look for those companies that are certified and approved to provide these types. Producing environmental helpful furniture benefits the manufacturing companies because when they use furnishings which contains recyclable materials like metals, helps them by saving money for purchasing additional materials. Green Furniture is products that are mostly locally manufactured from forests which are sustainable and have high possibilities of durability. It is mainly represented using a tree.
Fast Furniture is another design where it is made of cheap and simple materials and is to be used within a short period. An excellent example of the material used is particle board. The owner buys the one that is trending. Overproduction is encountered because it is cheap to manufacture them hence making the popular.
After using Furniture for a long time, some people may reach a point where they feel that they can throw them away. This may be due to the condition of the Furniture. If it is worn out and repairing has been done until it reaches to the point that no any repair can be done, the owner may think of throwing it away so that it can create more space if perhaps it is a room. People may want to throw away their Furniture because he/she has no connections to those companies that recycle the Furniture (Contributor, Barth, and Ron 2016). The companies may have no clear procedures of connecting with users hence making it hard to reach people out there. Companies should ensure that they have direct contact with consumers. To make this more comfortable it is advisable for those companies to collect the details of their buyers who buy their Furniture. This should be done during the purchasing day when the transaction will take place.
Another reason may be due to owners wish to change the current type of Furniture and advance to modern or latest models and design, and so he/she buys the new ones and throw away the one that was being used so that he/she can able to introduce the new ones. The owner may also move from one house or room to another, and the place might not be equal to the one that was there before because it may be larger or smaller (Garcia and Krista 2018). If it is larger, the Furniture may be too small compared to the size of the room, and if it is low, the Furniture may not fit in the given space of occupation. Here the owner may decide to throw away them because they are not of any importance if they are not being used for the specific tasks. But throwing them apart should not be the case, but one may sell them, donate to people who might need them or give them away to friends (Chowdary et al. 2019). By doing this, you save the environment from disposal where harmful products or chemicals might be dumped.
When people plan to live in a given area of residence, they tend to be choosy and take extreme care when deciding on the type of Furniture to be bought. The main underlying factor is time. How long am I planning to live in this given place? This time factor will help you buy the best type at that time, and this is why people nowadays have started to buy cheap Furniture because they relate to time. This has made the buying of cheap Furniture a trend. The reason being that the furniture cost depends on the quality. Hence, the cheapest one will be of low quality and will last for a shorter period compared to the expensive one which lasts for a relatively long period. But this is not supposed to the case. So when the cheap Furniture is bought and brought to the house or taken to the place of use, that's the time it starts to depreciate and losing value (Griffith and Erin 2017). When the time to move into another home or house comes, the Furniture is already old because the average time planned to serve has ended, and so the Furniture cannot be used in the next place hence buying of another new one happens.
Another reason why people prefer to buy cheap Furniture because they are not frequently using it compared to the type of service provided by Furniture. For example, if a person is working from home, he will need a pleasant and comfortable desk which will be of high quality and quite expensive. Some of the other Furniture that he/she may want to buy, eg, a TV table, he may choose to buy a cheap one for just supporting Tv functions because the time for watching the TV or entertainment is much less compared to the time used to work on the desk. It is advisable to put more durable Furniture on what you do most to ensure excellent and consistent services.
To buy new and high-quality Furniture at a low price may not be possible and hence one may prefer to buy used but cheap Furniture so that he/she can get those of good quality. This may be caused by the available money to purchase the required Furniture. Again this is another reason why people want to buy cheap Furniture. Here the quality of the Furniture outweighs the cost. As I said, earlier the intended use of the Furniture is highly considered even if the buyer has no such amount in the budget because the functions that will be undertaken by the Furniture is very crucial and may bring significant loss if the furniture functionality fails. The only option now is to proceed and search for a seller who wants to sell the old Furniture (Wissner and Hans 2001). The buyer will check the quality and determine whether it meets the qualifications that he wants it to have. He/she will buy it if it also goes in line with the price.
Finally, when planning to buy Furniture, do not run and purchase all Furniture that you need but the first budget for the essential ones like a bed, couch, desk, and table (Vicente et al. 2017). Once the important once are bought, and there is remaining space, then you may go back at your ample time and buy whatever extra Furniture that you may need.
