Hobbies and interest vary from one person to another depending on the individual. These are activities that one loves doing especially during free time. There are various stimulators which bring about these preferences. I like traveling and enjoy a variety of food. The aim of this paper is to discuss how traveling and food for me are different and similar and also which one is more superior to the other.
These two hobbies are similar to me in several ways. First, they involve exploring new things. This is because destinations worth traveling to have a different thing to offer which are the main attractors. Similarly, food varies from one community to another are different in terms of the ingredients and how they are cooked. These thus allow exploring new things.
Secondly, the two are intertwined in that they bring the fun. Traveling without food can be such boring. There is food tourism where people tour places to just find out of the foods in the place (Clarke, 2011). Among the key factors considered before traveling is the food, the destination has to offer. Therefore, food and traveling work together and therefore cannot be separated.
The other similarity is that both act as tools for reducing stress and pressure. Travelling can bring a lot of relief from stress as the mind is in a different thing and consequently forget the stress (Gerber, 2019). There are also particular types of food that can perform the same activity in reducing stress and tension. For example, chocolates are good stress relievers. Travelling and food, therefore, serve as a relaxing agent to reduce stress and tensions.
Food and travelling also have a similarity in health benefits. Food is essential for growth and the normal functioning of the body just like traveling. Travelling is a way of dong exercise as it may entail walking, hiking and doing other engaging activities. These exercises are god for the body growth and the functioning of the body. They thus boost the health of the individual.
Food and traveling however also are different in several ways. The first difference is on mobility. Traveling involves moving from one place to another while food will require one to stay in a place. For example, cooking does not involve much movement as well as eating; one will have to probably sit down. On the other hand, traveling involves moving from one place to another, which may involve several miles away.
The enjoyment experienced in food is short-lived while travelling is long-lived. This is because eating, for example, may take a maximum of one hour and the enjoyment from the food ends, traveling, however, and may take even the all day. The impacts of the two correspond to their time of experience. Memories of food are shorter than the memories of traveling.
Interest on food is based more on biological benefits while traveling is based on nature. One of the factors that makes one attracted to food is the biological benefits of the food while traveling is stimulated by the beauty of nature. The food will depend on the skills of the people who prepare while traveling is more on the beauty of nature and the art of people.
Among the two, food is preferred for traveling. This is because the food is readily available and can prepare at any time. Traveling however, require more time and planning, of which the time may not be available. The costs incurred on food are relatively cheaper than traveling and therefore food is a better choice than traveling.
