Art is an expression of human creative skills with their imaginations. It is typically in a visual form such as sculptures for their beauty or emotional power. Both art and architecture have a link that brings them together via their design and also their designer. They are both created by use of similar principle, visual elements and same senses of engagement. Death of the virgin art is one of the paintings of an artist known as Caravaggio. It got terminated in this Italian Baroque. He painted this death of a virgin in Rome for 15 years. The painting was for recalling Caravaggio's Entombment in the scope of Vatican and the naturalism of photographic. This art is of life-size. In this painting, Mary is lying on a reclined while dressed in a red dress which is very simple. In the painting, there is the rolling head, her hands hanging, swelling and the legs are spread to show a raw and real view of remains of a mortal virgin. The artist completely leaves the tradition of iconography used to show virgin's holiness. In this painting, nothing is realized devotional in the art remains. The subject matter of this essay is the painting of the mortal virgin. This painting depicts the iconographic and the revolution which was instigated by Caravaggio in the 16th centuries. The artist isolates himself from precious, impacted vogue and inaugurates himself. He undertakes the art of painting the mortal virgin by transforming the people's truth and feelings, having no worries on convections representation.
In this essay, the theme of religion gets employed by the artist. He identifies the painting of "the death of the virgin" as Mary Magdalene. The painting is portrait while lying on a flat surface with red clothing. The artist says that the eyes of Mary could penetrate from the back of her neck through her hands to the head of the apostle. This painting is, therefore, illustrated as a Biblical art by Caravaggio. The art was purposely painted to be placed in church though it later was rejected with assumptions that, Caravaggio used an image of a prostate to illustrate holiness of the dead. The theme of religion dominated the whole essay. The mother of Christ gets illustrated by use of this art in this research.
The theme of traditionality also gets employed in this art. Caravaggio's painting of virgin is not a traditional blonde beauty ascending up to heaven, but just a normal dead woman lying on her bed. She is painted lying flat with her head on one side. This artist is reminding the viewer of this virgin that, nothing is more dignified in this death. The art is drawn to attract people's attention.
In any work of art, there is subject matter, contents and also forms. The subject of artwork gets identified by regarding landscape paintings and sculptures. The artist draws two lines on an object forming a triangle. One of the lines is diagonally towards Mary's face which passes over the Head of the apostle and other men in the painting. Another line is drawn steeper from the kneeling woman to the standing woman. In this painting, there is triangle line, male and female line. All these triangles get drawn with lower edges of the frame at the base. The colours of these triangles get drawn close to the earth. In this painting, Mary gets portrayed as an art drawn down to earth. Caravaggio paints a red curtain over the scene which increases the emotions in the drama.
Within the Renaissance that brought up human activities, the work of art meant reality to life. Caravaggio embodied Italian art to conjure the world values by engaging himself in the sense of artist. In his art of painting, a kind of miraculous formation of nature depicts as the same moment the species such that, the portrait extended his social limitations and gained meaning to the religious world. Even though Caravaggio engaged in his work of art as a thinker, he inspired many people and another artist. He uses the shadow in this religious painting to give a supernatural sense in his art. Apart from, this art breaking the tradition, it is not mystic but a heavenly scene.
The composition of this painting gets laid around the art of the virgin being the main theme in this essay. Around the virgin appears Mary Magdalene and the apostles and the rest shuffles behind. The mass and the posturing figure directs eyes of the viewer's towards the body which gets abandoned. He shows an expression of grief while hiding his face. Caravaggio who is a master of stark and canvas which are dark shows no interest in the exercise that attracts emotional range. The sobbing appears in the face without silence emotion. The virgin holiness gets discerned by a halo. The red dress looms in the top portion of the canvas which is a motif to the deposition painting of the dead virgin.
The artist uses shadow and light to build the surface of the object, dressing and figure. On top of all this, he concentrates on the process of modelling the virgin physically as struck by light which is dazzling. In this painting, the artist forms an illusion of depth via a sequence of lighter surfaces. From Mary Magdalene's back of her neck in the front ground, the eyes could penetrate into the painting of the Virgin, through via the face of Mary and along the hands and face of the Apostol.
In the interpretation and evaluation of "the death of the virgin" it is a biblical art. Caravaggio's art portrayed the demise of Christ's mother which is an event well known in the church of Orthodox. This artist treated the painting as if the woman was taken to heaven before she died. The Artist also depicts the dead Mary as lying flat, with swollen hands and her hands handing. In Caravaggio's painting, illustrates his commitment in the field of art and true portrayal of imagery in Christianity. The name Caravaggio means a contract of light and dark as used in his art. His styles get well reflected his appearance physiognomy. He had dark eyes and black hair which got reflected in his painting (Askew, 209).
Caravaggio describes the form used in this painting regarding conditions. His religious painting is not stripped to a simplified composition limited to a few people. It gets marked by any movement. Eight mourners at least are assembled around the body of the holy, so as elements, they get arranged as they direct the eyes of the spectators towards the holy's mortal remains. The mood of this art is quiet and of very intensive grief. The beddings of the mourners get identified as deadening their voice, therefore intensifying their pain. Caravaggio hides the emotions of the mourners by painting their faces away from the audience. This artist always uses light and shadow in a technique known as chiaroscuro to enhance the dimensional nature of his art. He also employs another technique of tenebrism to draw the mourners who are weeping and enlightens the lifeless form heavenly light of Mary.
Caravaggio's styles used in painting can easily be identified in his work. He focuses on spaces which are co-extensive. Following the artist evolution in this field of art, it's like visualizing his life. In this art, he was painting oil on canvas to come with the painting of the Virgin mortal. As the majority of artist starts their work by drawing, Caravaggio mostly executed a rough drawing on a canvas before he starts painting it. Instead of sketching the first step in his art, he could trace indications in the first layer of his painting by use of a brush handle and then he could go ahead with his painting. Due to his naturalism and dramatic effect in his styles and technique, his work got criticized. Above all this, he inspired many artists in his capability to show religious scenes and human emotions.
When you compare this work of art with other artist's, it is unique. From the point of realism to the point of its naturism. The artist being revolutionary, he creates this art purposely to be placed in a chapel. It was later rejected due to various reasons. Some say that Mary's feet get painted while naked and others argue that the artist selected a prostitute late and extended her beauty in the art of the death of the virgin. Still, Caravaggio's art is unique in another personal perspective. His natural hair is black and has red eyes where he employs the nature of his body in the art. He paints the virgin with red and black reflecting his naturism. On being criticized, he doesn't stop his artwork and continue until his death. He leaves behind footmarks of his art through inspiring the different artist, and one of them is Master Ruben.
The death of virgin gets associated with Christianity in this art. Caravaggio bases his art on the death of a virgin because according to Catholic Mary don't die but falls asleep and goes to heaven. In this essay, two themes are employed. The theme of religion and theme of traditionally. The artist shows apostles as poor men with beards which are unkempt and with dirty feet. Their suffering is a portrait by Caravaggio in the old modem. He is revolutionary in his art, he pushes his figures above the image and uses light in drama creation in his techniques. This art brings up clarity and physical appearance startling his realism. He also uses light and shadow in his technique of artwork. Caravaggio undergoes a lot of criticism in his art due to his uniqueness compared to another artist. Despite the critics, he inspires many artists with his work including Master Ruben.
