Introduction

Over the past years, there have been conflicting opinions about the impacts of globalization. Some have argued that globalization is a positive development idea that has led to the construction of many industries leading to numerous job opportunities. Similarly, parallel arguments have been formed claiming that globalization is a negative idea that makes the developing countries over-rely on the developed countries and does whatever they are told to do regardless of the repercussion. Different aspects of globalization have both negative and positive impacts based on the numerous researchers across the globe. There is no specific date that can be traced to the exact date that globalization began. Globalization that is considered as the relationship between people, organizations, and nations has, in the past decades, experienced several changes that have both been positive and negative. Globalization can also be viewed as an activity leading to some of the developed countries gaining momentum to outsource some of the essential products from the neighboring countries (Aristova). Local workers in the local industries may, as a result, lose their jobs. However, still, those who benefit from the work in developing countries suffer low wages with unfavorable working conditions.

Most of the developing countries need industries with relevant jobs for the local people to improve the economy. Such countries do everything to preserve identity and culture. Among the developing countries, fear has been created with the perception that increased globalization may erode the traditions, cultures, language, and further loss of authority over vital political and economic decisions. Globalization is also considered as a plan to underestimate the fabric of the local communities. Many developing countries assume the purpose of protecting the environment (249). Industries in the developing countries do not have strict laws that guide the pollution control measures. This assumption has resulted in severely contaminated air, soil, and water that has, in turn, impacted respective countries negatively.

The preservationists often base their arguments by invoking cultural imperialism. The multinational corporations appear at the center of the periphery, some of them originating from media businesses. Products from such companies are sold to the rest of the world. Herbert Schiller, a media specialist, claimed that the cultural; perspectives of the ruling sector that shape the consciousness of the system at large.

Generally, in most cultures, girls are free to engage in relationships at the age of 20 years. Western cultures allow their girls to enter relationships as early as 15 years. This has been a concern in developing countries and is considered a culture that should not be copied locally. Currently, people react differently to modern changes by inverting the values generated by liberal democracies. The same aspect of globalization has led to greater compatibility among cultures. Regardless of the means of acquiring information about cultures, globalization provides an additional glimpse of other cultures leading to an informed cultural understanding because of the increased opportunity to travel across the globe. Understanding other cultural behaviors help in creating a flexible and reliable labor market.

Along with the enhancement of communication, there are increased opportunities in the labor market. In connection to this, globalization has eased the possibility of working around the world. Labor, therefore, is not a must to come from the country of origin. The labor market has since grown and become significantly flexible compared to the period before globalization.

Globalization serves the same purpose as the international movements that aim at promoting gender equality. Many Muslims are worried about the trends among the Western countries on how they handle the relationship between men and women. The continued richness of the internet is presumed to cause further challenges to different cultures. Muslim girls are in the future likely to adopt the culture of swimming half-naked with completely strange men, as in the case of the Western countries. Similar to many societies, treaties serving the same purpose of fighting for equality between men and women are important concerning the development strategies of respective countries. Women, just like men, should be entitled to work outside their countries and have a vote during the national discussions. The changes between the relationship of man and woman come with additional freedom that brings a balance of power.

Globalization is a critical factor in the enhancement of international economic participation. More countries have managed to engage in the international market due to increased trading opportunities, better communication, and a flexible labor market. Because of the many economic benefits of globalization, additional economies grew and enhanced through involvement in the international market (307). Companies continuously outsource labor allowing the developing countries to participate in technical discussions even with inadequate facilities. Globalization provided opportunities to countries that never participated in the international market on their own a chance to be members of international markets. However, most scholars argue that the end of World War II marked the beginning of globalization; this claim may only apply majorly to economic globalization. Kwame Anthony Appiah was right to claim that cultural globalization exposed the interior parts of the world to benefits such as better education, trade, investment, competition, and employment.
