Introduction

Communication perspective allows us to understand the development of self in that it focuses on how shared experiences, shared meanings, and shared experiences are made through a given language or a symbol. There has always existed communication and people communicated with one another via different modes of communication. Communication has developed over time, whereby people have adopted new and better technologies from time to time. In ancient times, people used to communicate using smoke ad drums before the modern wireless communications methods were adopted.

This perspective has helped us to rediscover our social and cultural identities. By identifying our norms, belief, values, and practices help us to identify our various qualities, personality, looks, beliefs, and expressions that define us. Communication makes the development of the self easier since we can easily identify who we are and who are we associating with.

Communication Crisis

Communication crisis is a special section that is designed to defend and protect a person, company or organization which is facing a challenge that is of public interest. This section deals with the efforts made by a company or an individual to persuade the public and stakeholders to understand what circumstances that led to the occurrence of the unexpected event. The individuals involved are required to follow the stages of crisis management to protect their images. For instance, a company may experience gender equality in its systems, which affects its reputation. It will be required to monitor crisis risks, collect and processes the information which is essential for a crisis team and assess crisis management efforts. Also, there is a need to follow up on the crisis management measures put in place to protect the company's image. It would be an awful experience to walk in a narrow ridge since one's image, and reputation will be ruined completely. When a problem occurs, it is necessary to solve such issues to bring about social and corporate order.

Conversational Leader

A conversational leader has the following traits:

He/she has determination - a conversational leader is determined to inspire those who are around him or her to achieve their goals and visions.

He/she is decisive - a conversational leader is a kind of a person who has confidence in making clear and specific decisions that guide others in achieving their goals and the general goals of an organization.

He/she is open-minded - an effective leader can work with people easily. He/she can raise the alarm where there is a problem, and also, he/she gives credit where it is due.

He/she is clear - a conversational leader is usually clear in giving information and guidelines. He/she is confident that the instructions he or she is providing reach the subjects on time.

He/she has gratitude - an effective leader recognizes the contribution of others and gives credit where due. They even reward those who have excelled in their areas.

I will practice conversational leadership in my current group by adopting the traits of an excellent leader to enable me to drive my group to greatness.

Cohesion

Cohesion is defined as actions and facts that unites people as a whole. Different people are united with different practices and beliefs that bonds them together. Through continued interaction, people start developing group attitudes, norms, and roles that define their beliefs and behaviors. When people start sharing their experiences and stories, a bond is created, which cultivates cohesion.

Extreme cohesion sometimes leads to dependency, in which members cease to think critically and independently. Some members of a particular group will tend to depend on others in making group decisions. People become lazy and dependent on others to make decisions for them. For instance, in school group work, other group members may decide to task one member with the responsibility to do group assignments. Extreme cohesion leads to a lack of creativity in members of a particular group.

An increasing number of members affect the group's activities negatively and positively. There is too much dependency on certain people to accomplish tasks that are meant to solve by all group members. The effects associated with an increase in number include shoddy quality work since other members of the group will be dormant and not willing to do proper research. On the other hand, an increase in the number of members of a group will improve the quality of work being researched if all members get involved fully.

Dialogue

Skills that are necessary for facilitating a dialogue include:

Listening and Empathy - The nature of listening decides the outcome of a discussion. Good dialogue is tied in with tuning in and all the while seeing our very own responses and protections without reacting to them. It goes beyond listening past our thoughts, which enables us to think critically.

Respecting - respecting other people's opinions is vital in encouraging people to continue talking and expressing their views.

Suspending - this is a necessary skill that enables one to drop his or her emotions and judgments to have a fruitful conversation. One tries to understand other people's thoughts and views to get an insight into their actions.

Curiosity and asking the right questions - asking questions is one of the skills which is encouraged when two or more people are having a conversation. It is advisable to ask relevant questions, which will enable the other party to respond to the subject as required.
