This is a letter meant to inform you of the new code of ethics that the company had adopted. The code of conduct is meant to provide employees with the guidelines of what is expected from employees. The new code of ethics is meant to protect the company and clients from harmful behaviors by the employees that can harm the relationship between the customers and the company. Below is an analysis of the new code of ethics and the reasons why it is important for the employees to comply with it.
There are several areas that the new code of ethics covers. It covers confidentiality and privacy policies. This is meant to protect company and customer data from hackers who pose the risk of stealing customer information and also stealing proprietary data from the company. The new code of conduct is meant to keep customer personal information from the hands of the wrong people (Society for Human Resource Management, n.d.). The code of ethics identifies ways that employees can ensure that the company data is not at risk.
The code of ethics also intends on ensuring that the employees keep a professional appearance. It identifies the company dress code that every employee should adhere to. Employees are expected to be formal throughout the week besides Fridays when they can dress casually. The new code of ethics also guides the employees on how to behave in the workplace (Society for Human Resource Management, n.d.). It is meant to ensure that employees are disciplined at the workplace, and discourage the employees from indulging in office politics, gossiping and negative criticism. The code also identifies the consequences of violating the new code of ethics and the channels that an employee can use to report any violations. The consequences included in the code of ethics vary and include termination and other corrective actions depending on the standard that an employee does not meet (Nieweler, 2016).
It is very important for the employees to comply with the new code of ethics. The new code of ethics set the right organization culture that is based on core values and beliefs. The new code builds a reputation for the company and its commitment to maintaining high standards and the right conduct (Ethics & Compliance Initiative, n.d.). It is also important as it helps the company and employees from violating laws and regulations. It guides the employees on what to do to ensure that they are in compliance with any laws and regulations pertaining to the company. It is also important for the employees to comply with the conduct to ensure that they do not face any consequences such as suspension or probation as a result of them violating the code of ethics.
