The one-man play 'An adventure with Teddy Roosevelt' which takes place in 1978 featuring the historical period of 1900 -1919 of the life and doings of President Teddy Roosevelt. The main character in the play is Teddy Roosevelt, who is important since he was the 26th President at that historical period and his role in the play is centered on his political beginnings, corporate greed, and power. The play summarizes that Bully presents the life of Teddy Roosevelt as the president outlining the major issues of the presidency, power, environmental conservation, diplomacy, and his federal government in controlling business (Alden).

The major theme in the play is socio-economic since the President was dedicated to improve the lives of all American citizens through the promotion of fair bad equitable treatment for all. He used to square deal to protect consumers from the exploitation of monopoly corporations, ensuring fair rates for all. He was selfless for the public fair treatment or adoption of equitable and fairness policies. He was able to control the monopolistic power of the railroads and large corporations to fair rates.

The other major theme is on leadership which is portrayed by the presidency of Theodore. The play features the president's interactions with progressives and other leaders. The play summarizes his action of building and controlling the Panama Canal, guiding the U.S to attaining power in international affairs, and sporting environmental conservation. He used his foreign policy to create peaceful negotiation when war erupted between Russia and Japan. His exceptional leaderships featured in his polices such as the domestic and the foreign policy.

The President's foreign policy was the big stick policy which was 'speak softly and carry a big stick, you will go far.' The foreign policy meant that foreign diplomacy issue needed intelligence and peaceful negotiations but also a decisive action in the case of a crisis CITATION His091 \l 1033 (History). The highly used domestic policy was the "Square Deal" which was meant for fair treatment of all Americans, conservation of the natural resources, protecting consumers, and regulating corporations. Since Roosevelt had worked hard for William Howard to be elected as the next president, Teddy felt that the current president had failed him through running back Roosevelt policies and did not take the presidency with energy and ambition. In a year, Howard had broken with Roosevelt progressives.

In the play, Roosevelt is neither selfish or arrogant since he was fighting back the arrogance and selfishness of the greedy corporates and leaders. As the president, he was more altruistic since he was dedicated for fair treatment of citizens and his great dedication to create fairness and equity for all citizens (Alden). Teddy thought he could have done it differently when he pushed for the election of the next president as Howard and Howard turned out to break the progressive policies that had been established by Roosevelt in his serving terms. He trusted Howard and though that he was the best choice of a president who would continue leading the nation to a better social and political growth. He regretted for his action and made him support Howard progressive enemies and push for the better election of another leader after the first serving a term of Howard.

I liked the play since it features the exceptional presidency of Teddy Roosevelt and the actor excellently tries his best to bring out the actions of the main character. I think that the play passes a meaningful concept of emulating Roosevelt presidency. I would recommend it to my friends since it is exciting to watch the play and t has meaningful content. If I would meet Theodore, I would ask him what motivated him to become so selfless for the nation since it is hard to find a rich leader like him in today's society.
