Introduction

10th Calvary regiment refers to a group of army soldiers belonging to the six regiments representing the black Army. The 10th Cavalry regiment was officially launched by the congress late 1866 in recognition of post-civil serving army soldiers formed to defeat the native American individual. The first commander of the Army commander for the 10th cavalry regiment was Colonel Benjamin Grierson. 10th Calvary Regiment in Afghan War

10th Calvary regiment served various field operation since its first launch by the congress in 1866. The Army was initially formed consisting of Army deployed from Buffalo soldiers after the anti-slavery movement earlier. The Army has however survived various field operation such as the Mississippi raid, the Iraq war, the great Indian Invasion war and other famous actions. The regiment was later reactivated in September 2001, serving as Quick Reaction Force (QRF) and Brigade Reconnaissance Troop (BRT) for the first formed Brigade (Cruttwell, 2018). The regiment served in the Afghanistan war with Iraq in 2001. The troops formed under the regiment regularly maintained extensive field operations. The Brigade Reconnaissance Troop (BRT) was commonly referred to as "Cowboy Troop".

The 10th cavalry regiment led several actions such as Operations Tempo (OPTEMPO) on several combat operations in Middle East countries, especially the Northeastern area of Sadr and Baghdad City. Among the various group under the regiment, the C troop was the only unit operating in Baghdad which was reported to clear the war routed for a small vehicle. The group utilized over 4800 diverse contact forms within a year course. On returning to Fort Hood, the troop was however rearranged and later re-flagged as Troop C, operating as the first squad in the 7th Calvary (Cruttwell, 2018).

The 9th and 10th cavalry scout regiments have deactivated in the past, and the individuals who participated in the wars have been awarded. However, the 10th cavalry regiment remains and is comprised up of one active squadron. The active unit is made up of the M3 Bradley and M1Abrahams who are based in Colorado (Jennings, Fox, Taliaferro, Griffith & Trottier, 2017). To be precise, the cavalry squadron is found within the 4th infantry Division located in Fort Carson which is in Colorado. The 4th squadron takes its roots from the early "Buffalo soldiers", both in history and from the D Troop lineage. In 2000, D Troop representing the 10th U.S. cavalry was put to service again and assigned to act as the brigade reconnaissance troop.

The brigade troop was for the 3rd Brigade Combat Team and the 3rd infantry Division located in George. The 10th cavalry, D Troop, was sent on a mission to Afghanistan in 2003 with 3/3 ID. The cavalry has been deactivated and activated over and over. In 2004, it was deactivated just after redeployment in the same year. In 2007, it was reactivated at Fort Carson to take the missions that were undertaken by the 2nd squadron, formally known as the 9th Cavalry regiment (Jennings, Fox, Taliaferro, Griffith & Trottier, 2017). It was then when they assumed the name 4th squadron and were organized as an A, B, C and H.Q. troops. They were classified as such because of they a scouting wing. The scouting squadron aimed for the 3rd combat brigade team belonging to the 4th infantry division.

The 4th squadron was also deployed in Afghanistan with the BCT from 2007 to 2009. They were reassigned to the same spot in 2010. They were supposed to stop drugs and sell military resources as it was a dominant business in the country. The squadron was sent on a mission in Jordan to participate and uphold the Operation Spartan Shield (Jennings, Fox, Taliaferro, Griffith & Trottier, 2017). During this period, they were joined with other troops. In 2016, the Delta Tank Company, which was the 8th infantry regiment, joined the 10th cavalry. They were assigned together as Dakota Troop and were restructured to integrate and work together for recon squadrons. They then assumed the name cavalry squadrons. The 4th squadron under the 10th regiment was to other countries in Europe in 2017.

The worked on the operation Atlantic resolve before they returned to Fort Carson in the same year. The 1oth regiment was also deployed back to the Middle East to fight against the Taliban. The operation was called Operation Inherent Resolve. Both the Operation Spartan Shield and Operation Inherent Resolve took place in Afghanistan (Jennings, Fox, Taliaferro, Griffith & Trottier, 2017). Currently, the 4th squadron under the10th U.S. cavalry is the only active unit under the famous 10th cavalry scout regiment

10th Calvary Regiment had played a significant role since its creation in 1866 comprising of Buffalo soldiers. Their eminent participation in recent battle can be recognized following its strategic operation in various field combats. The 10th Cavalry regiment first squadron, fourth Brigade in the fourth division participated in the Operation Iraqi Freedom close combat between the Afghan and Iraq between 2003 and 2004. The group was able to earn its second Presidential Unit Citation during the operation as well as later 2005 and 2006. The regiment is, however, participating in the recent war operation as Armored Reconnaissance Squadron.
