My upbringing created my core beliefs on compassion, love, and the urge to assist the community as a whole. It is for this reason that I looked for any professional course where I could employ my inborn characteristic of supporting everybody around me; hence, I chose to be a nurse. Although at some level the course proved intense and challenging, the lifelong reward of a career that has value and meaning to every individual was my driving force. As such, I completed the course successfully and decided that my passion is for the medically complex patient. After graduation, I was fortunate to find a nursing position in a Long Term Acute Care Hospital

At my current position, I feel I have not done enough to satisfy my inborn characteristic of assisting people. Although working in long term acute care has fulfilled part of my dream, becoming Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner is my ultimate goal in the nursing profession. Notably, acutely ill patients are progressively leading the inpatient population, and the only solution to this predicament is increasing the number of Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG ACNP) which I want to be part of.

My education experience certifies me to be an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG ACNP). Specifically, my medical experience of working with acutely ill patients proves it is the right place for me. I have worked as patient support assistant where I ensured the safety of patients and provided the primary care for terminally ill and psychiatric patients. Moreover, during my internship, I provided nursing services and worked in Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Care Unit, and Pediatric Care Unit. Moreover, the nursing degree at Duquesne University did not just give the basic and professional skills in dealing with the acutely-ill patients, but also an opportunity to tutor nursing students who were taking their second degree. These educational skills revealed to me how important nurses are and how useful they are in the contemporary world; hence, they should achieve the ultimate goal in this profession to assist the society.

My desire to become an Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner has also been facilitated by the experience I had in the last three years of duty in long-term acute care hospital. Specifically, working at Carolina Continue Care Hospital (Long Term Acute Care) presented me with the intellectual challenges of working with these complex patients who often suffer from more than one chronic disease. After one incidence that I handle successfully, I realized that it is important to me and the entire community to further my education and become Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.

Apart from education and world experience, I want to enhance public relations for the health care center and create free educational activities to diverse ethnic groups so they can make changes to their lifestyle and improve the quality of their lives and their health conditions. However, these aspirations can only be achieved when I get an opportunity to gain such critical skills by becoming Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Notably, I am a sociable individual with the spot-on mental attitude, social skills and personality which are required to communicate effectively with patients under critical conditions and create the required assistance. Some of my strength are ability to function under stress and multi-task.

I know Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG ACNP) will be a challenging position in my career since dealing with acutely ill patients is quite difficult. However, it will test my abilities and skills to the limit, and I am very assertive that I will meet these contests and choosing this position will assist me to fulfill my ambition of supporting, treating and helping the community as a whole.
